A short drive from Ende, on the island of Flores, lies Kelimutu National Park, named after the volcano and it's stunning crater lakes. Depending on the amount of oxygen in the water (which varies over time), the lakes change color and can vary from blue, to red, to turquoise. We got up early to watch the sunrise over Kelimutu, along with a handful of other tourists. As the sun rose, it revealed both lakes with a stunning deep turquoise color. Here you can see the narrow wall of rock that separates the two lakes at their closest point.
